On Tuesday, November 25 Ambassador Barry L. Wells and the Department of Defense (DoD) in Dakar, lead by Colonel Ross Clemens, delivered a state of the art ultra sound scanning machine to the Gambia Family Planning Association Clinic.  The machine is valued at $45,000 and was donated by the United States Command (AFRICOM) under the Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Ambassador Wells told the gathering that improvement in the health sector is a key priority and the US Government attaches great importance to the sector.  “We are proud to say that we will continue to work with DoD to help the government and people of The Gambia in years to come” concluded the Ambassador.

Mr.  Yankuba Dibba, Managing Director of GFPA thanked the Embassy and DOD, and assured that the machine will be put to good use. The presentation was also followed by a conducted tour of the GFPA premises. The event received extensive coverage on all the major newspapers and GRTS TV carried on the evening news and the GFPA has archived the program for future usage. More photos from the event...
