Re-launching of new website Briefing

Consular Officer, Wendy Kennedy talking to journalists
The US Embassy launched a new website (http://banjul.usembassy.gov) last month.  To publicize the new website and to explain the online visa application process, US Embassy Consul Wendy Kennedy held a briefing for journalists on April 30th.  Ms. Kennedy and Public Affairs Assistant Papa Njie walked the journalists through the various pages of the new website, pointing out where the Ambassador’s speeches and public events are highlighted, as well as demonstrating how to fill out the online visa application form.  The new Embassy website is a standard format for all US embassies around the world, so the journalists who attended will also be able to easily access official US government representatives’ speeches and embassy events in other “hot spot” countries for their articles.  Through the new website, people will be able to more quickly and easily access information and statistics about Embassy self-help and other projects, as well as worldwide State department reports such as the annual Trafficking in Persons Report and Human Rights Report.
