Ambassador and Mrs. Wells hosted a Town Hall Meeting and Pot Luck Dinner at their residence on Wednesday evening, May 28th, 2008 for the American citizen community in The Gambia.  Ambassador Wells welcomed almost 200 guests, introducing both American officers and the Embassy wardens to the crowd and explaining the warden system.  The Ambassador spoke about the important role that the Embassy Wardens play in communicating and urged the attendees to consider volunteering as wardens.

Later, Regional Security Officer Eleanor Holloway gave safety and security tips for living in The Gambia, while Consular Officer Wendy Kennedy spoke about voting overseas, warden registration, Avian Influenza, and passport renewals.  The Embassy also had an American Citizen Services table staffed by consular assistant Mary Rose Gomez, where people could pick up flyers and ask additional questions.

Following the meeting, everyone enjoyed the Pot Luck dinner. Following the American “pot luck” tradition, the guests each brought a dish to share with others at the event.  Generally, most people bring their favorite or most reliable dish to pot luck; so as a result, there was a wide variety of tasty dishes for everyone to sample.
