Press conference with the Peace Corp Director and Ambassador Wells

On Friday 18, Ambassador Wells hosted a press conference and a Peace Corps swearing in ceremony with visiting United States Peace Corps Director Ronald Tschetter. The press conference was attended by all local print and broadcast media, who were briefed on the impact of the volunteers over the last forty years and on efforts to improve relations between the governments and peoples of the USA and The Gambia. Immediately after the press conference, 15 Health and Community Development Volunteers were officially sworn in, beginning their two year assignments in The Gambia.

The events helped to further highlight the positive work the US Peace Corp are contributing to the key development sectors of the Gambia (Education, Environment and Health).  The ceremony was attended by government officials from the Health, Education and Environment State Departments. The event was covered by all media houses, with a extend coverage by GRTS TV, the national TV station.
