Passport Replacement

Fees: The application fee for a child under 16 years of age is $70.00; aged 16 and over $85.00. The fee may be paid by:

Cash - either dollars or dalasis;
The Embassy is not authorized to accept personal checks, money orders or credit cards; however, by February 2004 credit card transactions will be possible.

Method of Application: You may bring your completed application forms DS-11 and supporting documents to this office any time between 3 p.m and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. No appointment is necessary if you do not require the services of a consular officer. American Citizen Services is open to the public on Mondays to Fridays and closed on all Gambian and American public holidays.

How long will the application take to process: Passport applications are processed on the same day of approval and the printed passport will arrive within two weeks from the National Passport Center in the US.

I have urgent need of travel!

Only in extreme cases does our embassy issue emergency passports. You may apply for a limited validity passport, which cannot be extended. Same day issuance is available for applications that are complete and straightforward. In some cases, however, we may be required to refer to the Department of State, therefore, it is important that you do not make final travel plans until the passport has been issued.
