Notary Services

Notarial services are performed in the American Citizen Services section. Please enter by the Embassy’s Kairaba Avenue entrance. Personal attendance is required.

New Hours of Operation

Notarial services are normally available on Mondays to Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Hours may need to change due to the availability of the Consular Officer.  The ACS Section is closed to the public on American and Gambian public holidays .


Notary Appointment System

American citizens seeking Notarial Services do not need an appointment. However, they are required to appear for services during the hours of operation listed above, and must show their US passports to Embassy security.

All individuals, both American and non-American citizens, must provide a photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s license, in order to gain access to the Embassy. Once granted access to the Embassy, all individuals seeking notarial services will be directed to the American Citizen Services waiting area, where they will be served in the order in which they arrived.

Notarial Fees

Persons requiring notary services must bring their passports for identification. The fee is $30.00 for the first signature/seal; $20.00 for each additional signature/seal, regardless of the number of documents. These fees also apply to certified copies. The fee can be paid in dollars or the dalasi equivalent in cash or by credit card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express.

 

Information Available

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: As of March 2006, Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) no longer needs to be notarized. Until revised I-864 forms are available, please disregard the notarization requirement which appears on the form.
